Friday Flower Feature: Spider Mum

This week’s Friday F lower Feature is the unique Spider Mum. This perennial produces seasonal flowers late in the growing season. Part of the daisy family, spider mums have distinctive flowers that can be grown in pots for easy display inside.
Spider mums should be planted at the beginning of summer, in May or June. They are also able to be transplanted from pots to gardens or vice versa. They should be planted in direct sunlight or partial shade and watered every day. Spider mums are known to attract birds, bees, and butterflies, with their colourful petals.
Spider mums need to be divided every 3-4 years but are otherwise fairly easy to care for. As they require little pruning, they are a wonderful low-maintenance flower choice for both indoors and outdoors!
