What’s better than the taste of fresh, local strawberries? They’re one of the most popular, nutritious and refreshing fruits available. Juicy strawberries flavor our pies, cookies, cakes, fruit parfaits and more.

If you’re looking for the perfect summer treat - check our mouth-watering strawberry dessert ideas!

1. Strawberry Waffles - Fluffy Perfection!

Ingredients:
  • 1 3/4 cup all purpose flour
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 bsp white sugar
  • 3 large eggs
  • 7 Tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1 1/2 cups milk or buttermilk

In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt and sugar. Add the eggs and beat lightly with a fork. Add the oil and milk, and stir until moistened.

Top with fresh strawberries and a scoop of vanilla ice cream!

2. Delicate Strawberry Crepes

Ingredients:

  • 150 g all-purpose flour
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 2 eggs
  • 375 ml milk
  • 1/2 tsp (2.5 ml) vanilla extract
  • 1 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
  • Softened butter, for cooking

In a bowl, combine the flour, sugar and salt. Whisk in the eggs, ½ cup (125 ml) of milk and the vanilla. Gradually add the remaining milk, stirring constantly. Whisk in the melted butter.

Cook each crepe on a non-stick skillet, over medium heat for about 10 seconds.

Add whipped cream, fresh strawberries and enjoy this sweet sensation!

3. Decadent Chocolate Dipped Strawberries

Ingredients:

  • 1 lbs strawberries
  • 3.5 oz 100g 70% dark chocolate
  • 3.5 oz 100g white chocolate

Make sure your strawberries are really dry. Melt the chocolate using either a “double boiler” method or melt it in the microwave for about 30 seconds.

Dip the strawberries into the melted chocolate and place on a lined baking sheet. You can sprinkle them with chopped chocolate, nuts, coconut flakes or whatever you like!

Put in the fridge to harden for at least 1 hour, or overnight for even better results.

4. Adorable Strawberry Tarts

Ingredients for dough:

  • 1 cup four
  • 6 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • ¼ teaspoon salt

Mix together dry ingredients and rub them with the butter until you get a sandy texture. To make a smooth dough, add about 2-3 tablespoons of cold water. Cover and chill for 30 minutes.

Mix 2 cups of strawberries with ¼ cup of sugar and let it sit for 15 minutes.

Preheat oven to 375 F. Roll out the dough to about ⅛’’ thick. Cut out 6 rounds that are larger than your molds (you can use a glass for that). Line each buttered mold with the dough and bake in the oven for about 10 minutes. Trim out the edges and fill with the strawberry mixture. Bake for another 20-25 minutes. Yum!

5. Refreshing Strawberry Sorbet

Ingredients:

  • 1 whole lemon (seeded and chopped)
  • 1-2 cups of sugar
  • Juice of 1 lemon

Pulse the chopped lemon and sugar in a food processor until combined. Transfer to a bowl. Purée the strawberries in a food processor, and add to the lemon mixture. Add juice of 1 lemon or more if desired. Freeze until barely firm.

It’s always difficult to transition from summer to fall but we still have a lot of fun activities for you and your family!

Not everyone knows that Saskatoon Berries are closely related to the apple family. They’re high in fibre, protein and antioxidants and are considered a better source of calcium than red meats!

They’re Canada’s Superfruit and it doesn’t really matter if you eat them straight from the bush or in your favourite pie.

Picking Saskatoon Berries may take a lot of time, so here’s a super easy recipe for a sweet and delicious no bake cheesecake!

Ingredients:

  • Saskatoon berries (3 cups),
  • 1/4 cup sugar,
  • 2 tbsp lemon juice,
  • 2 cups whipping cream,
  • 16 oz cream cheese (2 bricks),
  • 1/4 cup lemon juice,
  • 1/2 cup sugar,
  • 30 crushed graham crackers,
  • 1/2 cup melted butter,
  • 1 tbsp sugar

Instructions:

  1. Whip your whipping cream and set aside.
  2. In a bowl, whip the cream cheese with lemon juice and 1/4 sugar. Combine with the whipping cream.
  3. In a separate bowl, add three cups of saskatoon berries, 1/2 cup of sugar, and 2 tbsp lemon juice and blend. Mix cream cheese and saskatoon berry mixture together.
  4. Crush 30 graham crackers and mix with 1/2 cup butter and 1 tbsp sugar.  Press into the bottom of a cheesecake pan.

Spread the cheesecake mixture and chill in the refrigerator for about 4 hours. Enjoy!!!
